Dr. Mukesh Kumar, PhD, MBA, RAC, DABRM
Chairman of the Board, Akan Biosciences
Dr. Mukesh Kumar is a globally recognized expert in regulatory affairs, regenerative medicine, and clinical research, with over 18 years of leadership in the healthcare industry. He is the founder of FDAMap and Chairman of Akan Biosciences, a pioneering company in stem cell therapies and allograft products.
Global Experience in Clinical Trials & Regulatory Affairs
Dr. Kumar has guided the development of over 100 medical products and coordinated more than 200 clinical trials worldwide. Under his leadership, Akan Biosciences achieved a rare FDA IND approval for the use of non-expanded native SVF in osteoarthritis and operates one of the largest stem cell banks in the U.S.
A respected author, educator, and thought leader, Dr. Kumar has published extensively and trained thousands of professionals in clinical project management and regulatory science. He also serves on multiple advisory boards in the U.S. and abroad, contributing his strategic insights to advancing global healthcare innovation.
Dr. Melanie Polo-Sánchez, M.D., M.H.A.
Clinic Director
Dr. Melanie Polo-Sánchez is a physician, author, and clinical leader in regenerative and translational medicine. As Clinic Director, she brings over a decade of experience across advanced cell therapy, clinical operations, and cross-sector health initiatives. Her work has spanned orthopedics, neurology, and pain management in both the U.S. and Latin America, with a strong focus on developing patient-centered treatment strategies grounded in evidence-based science.
Global Experience
In addition to her medical background, Dr. Sánchez has contributed to international rare disease research as a medical intermediary for Rett syndrome studies and has collaborated with NGOs on public health and community outreach programs. Her interdisciplinary approach is further strengthened by her ongoing legal training, which enhances her ability to navigate the regulatory and ethical dimensions of modern medicine.
Dr. Sánchez holds a Doctor of Medicine degree, a Master’s in Health Care Administration, and post-graduate training in pediatrics and higher education. Her professional experience is shaped by an international outlook and fluency in several languages, which support her commitment to inclusive, culturally attuned care in the field of regenerative medicine.
